The design and implementation of each library component, such as graphic, sound, sprites or collision detection, is described. There is a special focus on collision detection algorithms in a hybrid 2D / 3D environment.The report starts with an introduction which states the reasons behind the project and lists the project s objectives.The main section consists of two parts. In the first part, technology choices, the project time schedule and the development process are discussed. The second part describes the important library classes one by one. The larger sections start with an analytical part, proceed with an implementation description and close with an evaluation regarding the particular class.Finally, the project is reviewed, comparing the outcome to the project plan and the project s overall objectives. A summary is given of what I have learnt in the course of the project, and the report ends with a brief outlook on the project s future possibilities.Although the production of two-dimensional games has gradually phased out over the past few years, there has been a revival movement. Especially with the introduction of more capable hand-held devices, such as palm-tops or mobile phones, old ideas are recycled and ancient games are brought to new life under the label of retro-style . I thought it would be interesting to develop a tool that enables people to recreate games of the past while making use of up-to-date technology.Another, more personal reason is, that more than a good CV, many companies in the game industry like to see a skill demonstration before they hire. Grown up with a passion for games, I thought this would be a good chance to familiarise with relevant technologies and make another step towards developing games professionally.Zusammenfassung:Lean & Mean ist eine Sammlung von Klassen, die dem Programmierer als Werkzeug zur Entwicklung von 2DSpielen à la Sonic the Hedgehog oder Super Mario Bros dienen soll. Die Verwendung von Microsofts DirectX - Technologie in der unterliegenden 3D-Schicht ermöglicht den Einsatz von Effekten wie Rotation, Skalierung und Alpha-Blending. Einen Schwerpunkt des Projektes bildet die Analyse und Implementierung der Kollisionsabfrage in dieser hybriden 2D / 3DUmgebung.Die diesem Dokument zugrundeliegende Arbeit wurde ursprünglich als Computer Science Specialist Project an der University of Hertfordshire durchgeführt, und entspricht in Umfang und Dauer der deutschen Diplomarbeit. Das deutschsprachige Dokument fasst die wichtigsten Aspekte der Arbeit zusammen und soll einen Eindruck von der Funktionalität des fertigen Produktes vermitteln. Probably nobody would believe that a supercomputer (IBM's Watson) would ever beat human beings in the Jeopardy television show.With considerable improvements and innovations in technology in the recent years, the software industry has seen many changes and has made substantial advancements. New software development techniques, procedures and capabilities have evolved. Moreover, the variety of types of software products has further diversified and application areas of software both in business and in the private sector have immensely expanded. For instance, real-time data processing applications and software for big data analytics have gained high importance to face the trend of big data in today's business environment.The increasing number of software types, however, increases the research efforts of researchers as long as newly developed software types are not well classified. Appropriate taxonomies are important in research and practice since the structurization of objects helps researchers and practitioners understand similarities, differences and relationships within complex fields and consequently facilitates research. Grimshaw (1996) formulated this problem very appropriately: "The lack of a commonly agreed taxonomy raises the barriers to entry to the subject of information systems and potentially leads to a waste of energies chasing the same thing by a different name."

Jahrhundert zu den bekanntesten und geschätzten Komponisten, was bislang unbekannte Belege aus Frankfurt/M., Straßburg und Schleiz bekräftigen, geriet aber nach seinem Tod weitgehend in Vergessenheit. Doch gibt es Nachweise für eine von Organisten und Kantoren getragene ungebrochene Telemanntradition bis in die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts, die ein musikpraktisches Gegengewicht zu den folgenschweren Traditionslinien des pejorativ gefärbten Telemann-Bildes dieser Zeit darstellt. Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts belebten Arnold Schering oder Max Schneider die Verbreitung seines Werks.Weiter wird die Telemann-Rezeption außerhalb Deutschlands (Norwegen, England, USA) beleuchtet und die Aufführungsfolge der Oper "Der geduldige Socrates" dokumentiert. Schließlich eröffnet ein Beitrag aus der Informatik die Sicht auf moderne Rezeptionsmöglichkeiten von Musik. Georg Philipp Telemann was one of the best-known and best-regarded composers in the 18th century, a fact borne out by previously unknown documents from Frankfurt am Main, Strasbourg and Schleiz, but he sank largely into oblivion after his death. But there is evidence of an unbroken Telemann tradition carried by organists and cantors until the mid-19th century, which offers a musical practitioners' counterpart to the far-reaching tradition in that era of a pejorative image of Telemann. At the beginning of the 20th century Arnold Schoenberg and Max Schneider revived the spread of Telemann's work.
